FR - Réalmont - Ré'Al Croche Festival

A summer for falling in love

Summertime is an open-air time. No matter whether with relaxed strolling in the city centre, with the enjoyment of the specially big sundae in the favorite café or at the sundown in the park. The nicest time of the year is simply too short to let spread you unused in the home sitting room.

Is it any wonder that at the Festival Ré'Al Croche is alive with people? There are country music fans as far as space allows.

Although adverse weather report, it's fantastic weather. I guess it's the Mistral which is usually a dry wind, and its arrival almost always clears the skies and dries the air.

The Ré'Al Croche Festival is the biggest festival in France for free.

If there is more than one artist performing, soundchecks can be more complicated. A soundcheck remains a difficult science, because the acoustics of a venue often change somewhat once it is filled with an audience.

But tooday they take it outside and the soundchecks take place in front of the audience.

The Snowy White Blues Project is on stage now. But nowhere to be seen Snowys acoustic guitar. And then, Snowy brings along another guitar. Have you ever seen this one, before?

Also it crosses my mind that Roi Martins was always playing on a dark red drum kit, but in some way has it lost its color today.

There is another one and it seems to me, that all the different drummers here are playing on the same drum set.

Quite especially as well, Roys tambourine.

At 11:18 pm Snowy enter the stage and welcomes the audience in French: Bonsoir ! The audience was infected by his enthusiasm.

he said … Ah! beaucoup des bonne ici ce soir !

OK ! Bonsoir !

I'm afraid that they play maybe just a few tracks tonight because it's a festival and another band performs after the Snowy White Blues Project.

Then the band opens with ' Blue To The Bone', 'Good Morning Blues' and 'Simple'. Snowy is larking and Ruud is not long in coming and contracts the high spirits from Snowy.

Snowy said: Bonsoir encore!, before he announces the 'Red Wine Blues'.

In 'Red Wine Blues' is one of my personal favorite guitar solo, VERY addictive. A really incredible guitar solo also tonight, I already can't breathe anymore and the solo is still well underway. Really, a masterpiece and he can still play sweetly.

After that, follows 'I Ain't No Doctor'. Finally, the drumming is superb. Then

'Hot For The Money' and in 'Long Grey Mare' I don't see much, because the floodlights blind me.

At the moment as Matt plays his absolutely amazing gutar solo in 'In Our Time Of Living'. It appears to me that Snowy encounters a problem as he waves somebody nearer. A very profound lyrics carries the track throughout, Though I do not understand the text, but I can fancy it, it sounds like this. Matt Taylor giving an incredible performance and right at the end he said: Merci ! Also Ruud said: Merci beaucoup !

The next song is 'Land Of Plenty' is another very memorable old track. Beginning with Roy on percussion.

I think they cut not figured out Snowys problem, as he waves again somebody nearer, and then two already are busy with Snowys VOX, right now.

I particulary don't care for the lyrics, it's the music that is great, again with incredible slide guitar by Snowy.

'Rolling With My Baby' so energetic and so motivating; which really helps me to cheer up my day. This song makes my pulse is racing rapidly and my adrenalin is exploding. I like the riffs, the guitar solo, the dynamic drum work as well as solid bass lines and the vocals.

'I Loved Another Woman' - Snowy was absolutely engrossed in his solo. Played one, two, three minutes so, is so intense and so musical. It is dark and warm and welcoming. It achieves perfect balance between the technical and emotional. It does not have a weak moment. Snowy did not come back to the present for three and a half minutes, until somebody was calling out: C'est bon ça!

'I’m So Glad' I'm glad - I'm glad - I'm glad !

Now, it's time for the acoustic part. All switched over to their acoustic instruments, all but Snowy. It's a pity that the band's last show was messed up by the crap equipment....

Matt carry an the audience to sing in 'Walk On' and he charms the audience with his acoustic sounds. One and all sing aloud and clap out the rhythm. This is, in every sense, a perfect song.

Woman Across The River ...

In the song 'I Want To Thank You' ... Snowy loves his French fans really very much and found some French words for to give thanks to them. Merci pour nous écouter !, he said.

I can't find words for the song 'One Way Ticket'. Really really awesome!!!! Very cool guys! Fantastic!

A highlight of the show was when the band departed and Snowy sang and played the song 'World Keep On Turning' alone on on his guitar. He's sweet and puts his heart and soul into every performance. The technical wizardry here is tremendous.

Then one additional song after the encore of Snowy.

Ruud said: Don't ferget we pre-sell the CD of that side of the stage after the show, so five minutes after the show, we'll be there for our new CD !

The band rejoined Snowy White for a triumphant version of "I Can't Get Enough Of The Blues',

Ruud Weber was clear winners with the crowd. especially, when he invite the audience for to sing, it’s cool how that happens, his enthusiastic fans laughed, too and continued to sing along.

Thanks for a great show.

Along my way back to my car I am plain happy. My favourite band played a full 90 minutes show and I think that with the warm summer air, the relaxed crowd and the casual vibe on stage, concert-goers could almost imagine they have one's head in the clouds, instead of an organized show in downtown Réalmont. But that’s the magic of Snowy White – his boyish grin, euphonic tunes and easy way with an audience and a guitar turns any environment into something special.

Ups! I really forgott to buy the Live- Album - So Let's go back !

Of course I'll buying a copy of this new live album? So 2 minutes later I shopped 2 CD's 'In Our Time ... Live', and they are signed by Snowy White himself, by Ruud Weber, Matt Taylor and Roy Martins! Wow ! What a sight !

Next day

864 km off my home in Switzerland - I come back down to earth with a bang !

I listen the live album! 'In Our Time ... Live'

I love it and all the pictures from Greece to Réalmont arise again.

Thanks so much for all the shows.

Geneva

19:45 pm I stop on the gasoline station.

2 hitchhikers 20 years of age ask for a ride towards Basel.

To my Town it is a run of 2 and a half hours and from there it's just 80 km.

So I pick up the 2 hitchhikers from Lithuania.

Paul, one of them plays guitar and he can't stop to ask about the music in the car.

Still I listen the live album! 'In Our Time ... Live'

So I make them a present with it and on this way the first live album is in Lithuania.

As they looks hungry I stop for dinner and with a big box of chocolate we just arrived on the gasoline station in Basel.

Now I am KO I turn back to my town and at 0:30am I am at home.

FR - Marcq en Baroeul - Place Paul Doumer

Neither rain, nor wind, and nor dark of night prevent the fans from rocking to
THE SNOWY WHITE BLUES PROJECT !

Renate: The mini Festival on saturday 19th juni in Marcq-en-Barœul, France is a prelude to The Fête de la Musique, also known as World Music Day, which is a music festival always taking place on June 21.

I've come all the way from Switzerland across France, Belgium and Luxembourg up to Lille just for to see this show.

I was surprised and impressed at how big the stage was at Place Paul Doumer.

It's fitful weather on this particular Saturday evening. Jelly Roll, Toys in the Forest and Aslan, had performed before the main event, which featured just the three Snowy White Blues Project guys, minus their live drum accompaniment Juan van Emmerloot, which is being replaced by Roy Martin.

The show started off with 'Blue to The Bone' from their debut album 'In Our Time Of Living'

. . . and then, 'Red Wine Blues'

This is one of the songs I really wanted to hear because it’s a personal favorite of mine, and he played it perfectly. His vocals were mesmerising and as he played the guitar solo it was finally dawning on me that I was really seeing my favorite singer and guitarist in concert again, it was really happening again!

From the moment of the first beautifully sweet musical tones flowed from his instrument. In 'I Loved Another Woman', a song that speak of loneliness and longing, Snowy held again the crowd in a spell of rapture .

During the acoustic interlude a soft rain is falling and Matt starts out with a slow acoustic guitar solo and is soon accompanied by his poignant vocals.

near the end came 'I Want To Thank You', followed by the haunting sounds of 'One Way Ticket'. The guitar solo during this tune was definitely one of the best of the night.

Matt, Ruud and Roy left the stage while Snowy quite alone on stage, with only his guitar and plays a superb solo guitar arrangement of the classic Peter Green tune, 'World Keep On Turning'

Then the band came back onto the stage playing “I Can't Get Enough of the Blues” which is almost always the last song they play at every show. Literally every person in the Place Paul Doumer was singing this chorus, word for word and when they finished it Matt played a fantastic ending solo. This song never ceases to impress me every version you can find of this song is unique and different. So the night ending with a giant sing a long in what was truly a communal event.

I just love the Snowy White Blues Project. They’re good. They do a lot of different, interesting things. That was a magical night and to the best of my memory I realised once again that Snowy really is a master of his guitar who performs with an huge love for what he's doing. For me, there's nothing like that.

If you missed that last show, you might be in luck. The band’s website lists another France date scheduled for the coming month. 24th July Realmont

Snowy White in Breda NL – 13.05.2010

Renate: Towards Zero Malgosia (Polnish translations) and me, we start off with a view to going to the four Snowy White Blues Project shows in North Holland. As we drove along I break down the fixture of the GPS with a dapper wave of the hand. So we had our first stop already after a few kilometres. At the next gasoline station, I bought a electrical tape and with that I could successfully fix the fixture. Suddenly, as the highway A5 was closed we left the road on the interchange Lahr where the only alternative routes we found, was to take the hop to France.

Shortly afterwards, the German highway was free again, and Morning at 9:00am with a big bouquet of flowers, we knock at Berts girlfriend's door. As Lili battle against cancer with the first her chemotherapy she was looking dangerously ill. I know with her perseverance and beautiful outlook on life, she will overcome this. In fact, Lilian is trying to keep her life as close as possible to the way it was before. Bert (is our Dutch translater for Snowy Fanpage) says that he, Lili and her family still plan to vacation in the Azores next month.

So we was chatting a bit had a cup of coffee with milk and then we moved on to our hotel in Breda for recreate ourselves with a nap.

The stage was set up for Snowy White Blues Project and we watched people stumble to their places with drinks in hand as the lights went down.

Snowy White and band took the stage, opening with “Blues To The Bone” a song written by Ruud Weber.

On Red Winw Blues, Snowy's voice is in fine form and It was as though his fingers were a part of the guitar, the sounds and movements were so clean, clear and succinct, not a single note out of place. You couldn’t help but feel the music
